BOOMERANG AND CARTOONITO LAUNCH NEW LOOK WEBSITES
18th January 2008
Turner Broadcasting is set to relaunch new-look interactive websites for Boomerang and Cartoonito channels. www.cartoonito.co.uk has just been launched and www.boomerangtv.co.uk is due to go live in February 2008. Both will provide greater synergy with on air programming and activity, as well as being unique destinations in their own right.
Live action programming has recently been introduced to Boomerang and the website has been revamped to appeal to an older audience, reflecting the broader range of shows such as UK produced live action series My Spy Family and popular sitcom The Latest Buzz.
Boomerangtv.co.uk gives users the opportunity to customise the site and theme their home page to feature favourite shows. It will also offer a range of videos, competitions, a news letter, quick votes and information on upcoming shows as well as classics like Scooby Doo.
The Cartoonito channel is hosted by six animated characters called Cartoonitos. Now for the first time the Cartoonitos have been brought to life online, with each character championing a different area of the website. On air the Cartoonitos promote soft learning of French in the interstitials and this element has been enhanced online to further expand the provision of French for preschoolers.
Additionally Cartoonito.co.uk has revamped its music offering and enables users to download MP3 songs, song sheets and watch videos as well as a range of other online and offline activities.
Ian McClelland Director of Digital Media EMEA says “Boomerang and Cartoonito channels have evolved substantially in the past few months and as well as updating the websites to reflect this, we’ve taken the opportunity to enhance our offering. In addition to services like interactive French activities, MP3 songs, and website personalisation, we’ve also introduced a raft of great games and printable content, which we know kids love and parents can rely on as a free entertainment resource for their kids”.
